Unjustified
Sir,- The air strikes by the U.S. and allies are totally
unjustified. Modern war is not as romantic as seen on TV screens.
It puts women, children and old people to extreme hardships. The
strikes can create a few more terrorists.
Instead, the U.S. should join other nations to settle long
pending problems in Palestine, Kurdistan and Kashmir by involving
the native people.
R. V. Ramanamurthy,
Hyderabad

Sir,- It is clear that America has not learnt its lessons even
after the terrible tragedy confronting it after the September 11
attack. Nothing explains its unjust and unprincipled friendship
with Pakistan, a country that is second only to Taliban-led
Afghanistan in its practice of training, nurturing and sponsoring
terrorism.
America should understand that undermining the security interests
of India would only be detrimental to its own long-term security.
India has the power, capability and resolve to defend itself from
any international policy that is discriminatory, unjust and fails
to recognise its due place in the comity of nations.
Sanjay Bhattacharya,
Pondicherry
