Pursue a different line
Sir,- This is with reference to your editorial `Fine-tuning the
anti-terror chorus' (Oct. 8) and Mr. Kuldip Nayar's article
`Prepare an iron-clad case against Pak. terrorists' (Oct. 6). The
continued low-key attention paid by the U.S. to India's concerns
regarding cross-border terrorism is driven more by geopolitical
sagacity than by pure selfish interests. The U.S. cannot afford
to ignore Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. The political,
military, religious, management of nuclear arsenal, civil and all
such crucial systems in Pakistan continue to exhibit a state of
instability. The U.S. and the U.K. have brought Pakistan under
the umbrella of a worldwide coalition against terrorism thereby
preventing these crucial systems from falling into the hands of
extremist elements. So, it would be wise for India not to rock
the boat.
India should pursue a different line of approach to tackle its
concerns regarding cross-border terrorism.
Subramanian M.S.,
