New CJI
NEW DELHI, OCT. 10. Mr. Justice S.P. Bharucha, seniormost Supreme
Court judge, will be the new Chief Justice of India (CJI),
succeeding the Chief Justice, Mr. Adarsh Sein Anand, who is
retiring on October 31, the Government announced today.
Mr. Bharucha (64), who recently delivered the landmark judgment
quashing the appointment of the AIADMK chief, Ms. Jayalalithaa as
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, has several significant judgments to
his credit.
