Khaleda Zia sworn in as PM

DHAKA, OCT. 10. The four-party alliance which got a landslide
victory in the October 1 election has formed its Government in
Bangladesh with Begum Khaleda Zia as the 11th Prime Minister of
the country. Begum Zia, the chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist
Party (BNP), has formed a 60-member Council of Ministers in which
two fundamentalist Jamaat-e-Islami leaders have been inducted.
The swearing-in of the new Prime Minister and the members of the
Council of Ministers was conducted by the President, Mr. Justice
Shahabuddin Ahmed, at a ceremony held at Bangababan here this
evening.
