ITC Bhadrachalam profit up 62 p.c.

KOLKATA, OCT. 13. ITC Bhadrachalam has achieved an increase of 62
per cent in the profit after tax at Rs. 11 crores in the second
quarter of this fiscal against Rs. 6.80 crores in the same period
in the previous year. The profit before tax registered a growth
of 65 per cent at Rs. 17.80 crores.
Income from operations grew by 48 per cent during the first half
of the year ended September. Current level of operations generate
cash of over Rs. 9 crore a month.
According to the official sources, the company's focus on high
end value added products paid rich dividends. Products such as
Cyber XL and Indolux for the packaging segment and Pearl Graphik
and Saphire Graphik for the graphic segment were leaders in the
respective market segments, according to sources.
The demand for value added paperboards was expected to grow by 20
per cent per annum against eight per cent in conventional
paperboards.Strategic cost management initiatives, encompassing
the entire value chain from fibre to finished products led to an
all round enhancement in cost efficiencies including financing
costs. The expansion and modernisation of the pulp mill at an
outlay of Rs. 220 crores is progressing as per schedule.
