All-party meet to pay homage to Kotla

HYDERABAD, OCT. 14. An all-party meeting will be held at Ravindra Bharathi here on Tuesday to pay homage to the former Chief Minister Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy.

The Chief Minister, Mr.N.Chandrababu Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr.G.M.C.Balayogi, Congress Working Committee member, Mr.Pranab Mukherjee, the APCC president, Mr.M.Satyanarayana Rao, CPI leader, Mr.Dasari Nagabhushan Rao, CPI(M) State secretary, Mr.B.V.Raghavulu, Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Mr.Bandaru Dattatreya, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, and other prominent figures would address the meeting.

Urns containing the ashes of the departed leader will be taken to Vijayawada from Hyderabad in a convoy on October 17 and kept at the City Congress office for the day. The ashes will be immersed in the Krishna the next day. Another urn will be taken to Eluru and kept at the City Congress office for an hour. It will be taken later to Rajahmundry for immersion in the Godavari.

The Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy memorial committee has urged the Government to name one of the sports stadia being built for the purpose of the national games after Vijayabhaskara Reddy. Former Ministers, Mr.K.Ram Reddy, Dr.M.V.Mysoora Reddy, Mr.K.Keshav Rao, Mr.K.Satyanarayana Raju and Mr. S. Chandrasekhar, PCC general secretary, Mr.M.Ravi, former CLP secretary, Mr.M.Kodanda Reddy said Vijayabhaskara Reddy was himself a keen sportsman and evinced interest in promoting sports and games. Another tribute to him would be to name Kurnool district and the KC canal project after him.
