Another milestone for Pollock

By Mohandas Menon

**Debutant pace bowler Charl Langeveldt became the 67th South African to appear in an LOI match.

**The partnership of 106 runs between Maurice Odumbe and Thomas Odoyo was Kenya's best for the fifth wicket against any team in LOIs. The previous best was 84 between Odumbe and Alpesh Vadher against Zimbabwe at Taunton on 15-5-1999. The partnership was also the best for this wicket at this ground bettering the previous best of 48 between Pakistanis Inzamam-ul- Haq and Mohammad Hussain against Sri Lanka on 7-4-1998.

**When Shaun Pollock took the 50th catch of his career in his 139th match when he had Martin Suji caught and bowled. He becomes the sixth South African and the 47th fieldsman (excluding wicketkeepers) to do so.

**Shaun Pollock's 3-41 was the best bowling figures by a South African at this venue. It was incidentally the second best figures at this venue after the 5-15 by Englishman Mark Ealham against Zimbabwe on 30-1-2000.

**Justin Kemp's figures of 5-0-45-0 was the least economical (r/o: 9.00) and equals the worst by any bowler against Kenya in LOIs. Bangladeshi pace bowler Hasib-ul Hossain had figures of 6-0-54-2 against Kenya at Nairobi (Aga Khan) on 15-10- 1997. He too had conceded nine runs per over.

**The opening-wicket stand of 115 between Boeta Dippenaar and Herschelle Gibbs was the best for South Africa against Kenya, the previous best being 77 between Andrew Hudson and Gary Kirsten at Nairobi Gymkhana on 3-10-1996, while the unbeaten partnership of 115 between Dippenaar and Lance Klusener for the second wicket was by far South Africa's best against Kenya, bettering the 39 between Gary Kirsten and Pat Symcox at Nairobi Gymkhana on 3-10- 1996.

**Klusener's unbeaten 75 was the highest by any batsman between the two countries. The previous highest was the 70 by Gibbs in this match, which in turn had bettered the unbeaten 68 by Kenyan Steve Tikolo at Benoni on 7-10-2001.

** Kenya recorded its 16th consecutive loss since its last win against Bangladesh at Dhaka on 24-3-1999 - nearly 30 months ago. Now only Bangladesh (22 matches) and Zimbabwe (18) have lost more matches in a row.

** Gibbs, playing in his 77th match, won the seventh man of the match award of his career.
