The right decision
Sir, - The Army has done the right thing by shelling Pakistani
posts. India should expose Pakistan's double standards and we
should find our own solutions to fighting terrorism in Kashmir.
The U.S. has its own priorities, and the lives of our people are
as important to us as the lives of Americans are to the U.S.
S.A. Srinivasa Sarma,
Hyderabad
Sir, - India could be justified in retaliating against the
terrorist acts in Jammu and Kashmir by attacking militant bases
of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and other groups
operating from Pakistan. We have been patiently waiting for years
and now things could be sorted out in such a way that the
retaliation, if aimed, would in no way be questioned by the
Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, or any other country.
As the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah,
pointed out, we have to face the challenge ourselves and
formulate the retaliation measures without further loss of time.
V.R. Gopal,
Chennai
