Expose Pak. designs

Sir, - This refers to Mr. Kuldip Nayar's article `Prepare an iron-clad case against Pak. terrorists' (Oct. 6). The world should be cogently briefed about Pakistan's help and training to terrorists, including the tremendous suffering inflicted on India for decades.

It is unfortunate that the terrorist outfits in Jammu and Kashmir are not included in the U.S. list of terrorist organisations. Although the U.S. Secretary of State, Gen. Colin Powell, has assured the External Affairs Minister, Mr. Jaswant Singh, that terrorists operating in J&K are also noted, the U.S. President, Mr. George W. Bush, has not a word to say about it. It is a pity that even after its own bitter and harrowing experience on September 11, the U.S. has failed to take a serious view of terrorist activities in India. Obviously, Mr. Bush feels intensely obliged to Pakistan for all the facilities it has offered to the U.S. in its fight against Osama bin Laden and his men albeit as a quid pro quo for the enormously bountiful packages of economic aid, besides lifting of sanctions.

Unless the U.S. and its allies, in their fight against Osama, vow to include terrorist outfits in J&K and Pakistan in their fight and go the whole hog to finish them altogether, India should not offer any facilities to the U.S. and its allies.
