No justification

Sir, - The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, cannot justify the reinduction of Mr. George Fernandes and ``presenting'' him with the Defence portfolio. Probity in public life, political morality and the rule of law were given the go-by in a brazen fashion. The only excuse seems to be that all other eligible candidates might prove far worse than this selection.

May we brace ourselves to face new lows in the vital sphere of defence at a crucial and critical time?
