Hijacking religion
Sir, - Mr. Mushirul Hasan's article must have been like a breath
of fresh air to many. I am puzzled as to how a theology of war
and angry passions has been wrung out of those holy passages by
the ulema and other motivated religious preachers. Thoughtful
Muslims must stop the ``jehadis'' from hijacking their religion.
Can the former glory of Islamic civilisations be restored by
waging continuous wars of terrorism against Israel, Western
countries, Russia, Uzbekistan, Algeria, Egypt, China, the
Philippines and India? Can there be eventual winners and losers?
T.K. Krishnamurthy,
