Cooper Bussmann completes phase II expansion
By Our Corporate Reporter
CHENNAI, OCT. 16. The expanded facility of Cooper Bussmann India,
a wholly owned subsidiary of Cooper Industries of the U.S.
commenced operations.
Presspersons were taken round the factory set up in an area of
21,000 sq. ft in Pondicherry on last Sunday after formal
inauguration of the plant. The new facility had the capability to
produce various ranges of fuses, said Mr. A. N. Chandramouli,
Managing Director of Indian operations.
Fourteen sections were created under the second phase. Of which
three were assembling fuses for household purposes and business
establishments. These products are exclusively meant for
exporting to the U. K. Two sections each will be producing low
and medium voltage fuses for power plants. The remaining assembly
lines are making fuses for semi-conductor devices.
The company would be getting base raw materials such as moulds
made out of backelite, ceramic blocks and rings from outside
sources. But the suppliers were required to maintain global
specifications in these components, Mr. Chandramouli said.
In about six months, the company will be installing equipment, at
the existing factory premises for producing medium range
batteries.
