Cisco's logistics facility in Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, OCT. 16. Cisco's revenues for Q1, 2001 will be in line
with its earlier projections. India is expected to make a
significant contribution to the revenue stream.
``We have a responsibility to be profitable and revenues from our
products will increase and we are convinced it will," Mr. Gary
Jackson, Cisco Systems, Asia vice president, said briefing the
media at the launch of Cisco's logistics facility in Bangalore
today. The first quarter results of Cisco will be released on
November 5 (fiscal year August-July). For fiscal 2001, it had
generated revenues of $16-18 billion, according to Mr. Jackson.
India is one of the top four revenue generators in the Asia
Pacific region which contributes 11 per cent of Cisco's global
revenues. ``In terms of sales, Internet penetration and corporate
requirements, India will continue to grow dramatically over the
next five years and Cisco would continue to invest substantially
on its Indian operations," Mr. Jackson said. Cisco has invested
$200 million on its Indian operations including the research and
development centre in Bangalore.
The networking infrastructure giant has invested significant
`double digit numbers' on the new logistics facility which is
expected to service the domestic partners of Cisco as well as Sri
Lanka and Bangladesh. This is the seventh logistics facility of
the company.
