Sasikiran keeps second spot

KOZHIKODE, OCT. 16. Krishnan Sasikiran (2569 Elo points) has maintained his second rank among Indians, behind World champion Viswanathan Anand, in the latest FIDE rating list.

World junior champion Koneru Humpy (2484) broke into the top ten of Indian men - she is ranked sixth - besides snatching the women's No. 1 spot from S. Vijayalakshmi (2405).

Dibyendu Barua (2521) moved to third place among men, while Pendyala Harikrishna, India's youngest Grandmaster (2502), is fifth, followed by Surya Shekhar Ganguly (2493), Humpy, Abhijit Kunte (2479), R.B. Ramesh (2467), D.V. Prasad (2465), Pravin Thipsay (2456), Tejas Bakre (2446) and P. Magesh Chandran (2435), who has scored nearly a 100 points - the maximum possible - since the last list was published in July.

Swati Ghate (2342) is the third-ranked Indian woman. She is followed by former World under-18 champion Aarthie Ramaswamy (2301), Vijayalakshmi's younger sister S. Meenakshi (2271), Nisha Mohota (2262) and Bhagyashree Thipsay (2224).
