Tendulkar back on top of one-day rankings
LONDON, OCT. 16. Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who returned
to international cricket in South Africa after missing the tour
of Sri Lanka with a toe injury, has reclaimed the top spot in the
Pricewaterhousecoopers one-day International ratings from
Australian run-machine Michael Bevan.
Tendulkar, with 781 points, overtook Bevan who has 775 points.
Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has jumped six places to move into
sixth place along with Pakistan's Saeed Anwar with 734 points.
Vice-captain Rahul Dravid is the third Indian in the top 50,
occupying the 21st place with 630 points.
In bowling, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has leapfrogged to 15th
place from 26th with 653 points. There is no change in the top
eight headed by Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan with
898 points. South African skipper Shaun Pollock is second on 868
points.
Leg-spinner Anil Kumble, also returning after a long injury
break, is in 29th spot. Ajit Agarkar, who made a welcome return
to form in South Africa, has improved four places to 26th with a
tally of 616 points.
Zaheer Khan, who dropped two places to 30th, and Venkatesh Prasad
(35) are the other two Indian bowlers in the list.
