Warm welcome for PM

CHENNAI, OCT. 17. The Prime Minister, Mr. A. B. Vajpayee,
accompanied by the Union Home Minister, Mr. L. K. Advani, was
given a warm reception at the old Meenambakkam airport when they
arrived here tonight by a special IAF aircraft from New Delhi.
Mr. Vajpayee and Mr. Advani are here to attend the wedding of the
BJP president, Mr. Jana Krishnamurthy's son to be held on
Thursday in the city.
The Governor, Dr. C. Rangarajan, the Chief Minister, Mr. O.
Panneerselvam, the Chief Secretary, Mr. P. Shankar, and the
Director General of Police, Mr. B. P. Nailwal, received the Prime
Minister at the tarmac.
Among others present were the Union Minister, Mr. T. R. Balu of
DMK, the BJP State general secretary, Mr. L. Ganesan, the Union
Minister, Mr. Senji Ramachandran of the MDMK, the MGR ADMK
leader, Mr. S. Thirunavukkarasu, the PMK MP, Mr. A.K. Murthy, and
the representatives of three defence services in the city. Mr. M.
Ananth Kumar, Union Minister, also arrived by the same flight.
The Prime Minister will be returning to the Capital after
participating in the wedding celebrations.
