Big bulls 'Start Up'

SIMULATE THE market. Play out real-life situations. Innovate and compete. Three days of `entrepreneurship simulation game' at IIT- Madras promises to set a real challenge for engineering and MBA students.

`Start Up' aims at bringing the market, as an entrepreneur sees it, for those with a spirit of enterprise. It is a combination of entertainment and education.

Assisting the organisers would be the Institute's professors in Economics and Industrial Engineering, besides the head of IIT-M's Entrepreneurship Cell.

Though steering away from complex approaches and remaining simple enough for the audience to appreciate, Start Up, will, however, not compromise on the skills needed in real-life. The idea is to test the participants' skills in successful management - team building, long term planning, generating funds and capital, brand building, advertising, fighting competition in the market.

A workshop on real-life entrepreneurship conducted by business leaders, including interactive sessions, case studies and demonstrations will provide the framework for the participants.

`Start Up' will be held from October 19 to 21, the first day devoted to the workshop. The event from October 20 will be held at Central Lecture Theatre and its vicinity.

Computers will be used extensively for accurate simulation.

The event that targets college students in the 19-24 age group has the following schedule: October 19 - 5-30 p.m to 7-30 p.m; October 20 - 4-30 p.m and on October 21 from 12-30 p.m.

Start Up can be reached at 4459000 (extn. 5767) or sent email to: info@shaastra.iitm.ac.in.
