About maternal bond

ABSOLUTE SECRECY is maintained about this film. The unit will not give away anything. But if what one has gathered about "Nandhaa''is any indication, it is going to be one of the most talked about films. This is the second film of director Bala. He made his debut through `Sethu', a much acclaimed film which gave a boost to actor Vikram's career.

"Nandhaa,'' shot mainly in the Ramanathapuram district, is ready except for the songs. Bala is a man of few words and does not wish to discuss his work. One finally catches up with him at the YMCA, Nandanam, where a song is being filmed.

"Nandhaa'' is about the love between a mother and son. ``I have captured their feelings and emotions and woven a story for the viewers to cherish all their lives. There is also a subtle but powerful love story revolving round Surya and Laila.

About the song, Bala said it was different and sung by Madhumathi, new voice. Ilaiyaraaja has sung two out of the six songs.

Scheduled for release on Deepavali, ``Nandhaa'' has "Karuthamma'' Rajshree as the mother of Surya. Saravanan is doing an important role. The Tamil pop singer Karuna is making his debut in a comedy role. Rajkiran plays Surya's father. The cast includes Jeeva.

Music is scored by Yuvan Shanker Raaja, cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu, editing is done by Suresh Urs, dance is choreographed by Suchitra and stunts are composed by Siva. Story screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Bala. The film is co- produced by cinematographer Kesavan Kutty and produced by Ganesh Raghu, Karthick Radhakrishnan, Venky Narayanan and Rajan Radha Krishnan.
