Young talent on show

THE SPIRIT of Youth festival of the Music Academy held recently presented promising young talents in a series of vocal music and Bharatanatyam recitals. The young musicians who participated were Savita Krishnan (disciple of Bombay T. R. Balamani), Dilip Simha (disciple of Neela Ramgopal), Kanchan Chandran (disciple of Lalgudi Jayaraman), Shree Lakshmi Das-Veena (disciple of Lakshmi Ramani), V. Prashanth (disciple of Sanjay Subramaniam), H. S. Prashanth (disciple of K. V. Narayanaswamy), Sharanya Krishnan(disciple of Suguna Purushottaman), Kamakshi Srinivasan(disciple of T. N. Seshagopalan), E. Devarajan-flute (disciple of Sikkil Sisters) and N. Bhairavi (disciple of K. R. Kedaranathan).

The list of dancers included Gayatri Balagurunathan (disciple of Krishnaveni Lakshmanan), Maya Ratnam (disciple of Jayalakshmi Eshwar), P. Sreenidhi Harini (Disciple of Malati Thotadri), Divyata Arun(disciple of K.J.Sarasa), T.P.Vidyamol (disciple of Dr.Neena Prasaad), Janaki Visweswaran (disciple of Jayanthi Subramaniam), Archana Narayanamurthy (disciple of Pandanallur Pandian), Janani Venkatachalam-Kuchipudi (disciple of Sailaja), R. Vijay Madhavan (disciple of Chitra Visweswaran) and Anwesha Das (disciple of Urmila Satyanarayanan and A. Lakshman).

The series is an annual affair, sponsored by Mr. Suresh Krishna of Sundaram Fasteners Limited, in memory of his mother Ambujam Krishna, composer.

Prizes for winners in this series, both vocal music and dance, will be given away on January 1 at the Sadas.
