Three policemen killed in landmine blast

RAIPUR, OCT. 18 Three policemen were killed and three injured in a landmine blast in Dantewada district of Chhatisgarh on Wednesday, triggered by naxalites owing allegiance to the People's War Group.

The assailants escaped with two Self-Loading Rifles and a 303 rifle belonging to the policemen.

The incident occurred when a police patrol party, led by the Sub- Divisional Police Office (SDPO), Mr. D.S.Marawi, was on way to Konta village from Bhejji. As the vehicle reached Kobra village, the suspects triggered the landmines.

The police jeep was blown to pieces and the occupants thrown several feet away.

A motorcyclist passing by the spot brought Mr. Marawi to Konta police station on his vehicle. A police party was rushed to the spot. Police are making further investigations.
