Naidu edged out of cyberspace

By K. Srinivas Reddy

HYDERABAD, OCT. 20. Cyber mischief continues to haunt the dotcom politician and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu.

A website with URL www.chandrababunaidu.com, pointing to a hardcore porn site has become alive again in the cyber world. The same site went off the servers following strong protests lodged with the Internet Company for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of which Mr. Naidu is the president.

The website was ``inactive'' for over three months and it certainly made a re-entry into the cyber world with a bang. This time the URL is made to point to a XXX-rated porn pay site. The offer for sale of the ``domain'' for not less than 550 US dollars is also pasted on the home page.

The site was actually launched by a diehard fan of Chandrababu Naidu to give daily schedules of the Chief Minister, his programmes and other information. The site disappeared in March last only to resurface with obscene pictures. The site went off the servers after protests were lodged with the ICANN and now it is back in action.

The cyber woes of Mr. Naidu do not end here. His pet website http://cmis.ap.nic.in which gave voluminous information about every Government department and the programmes being launched by it was defaced by hackers who claim themselves to be ``Anti-India Crew.'' The Government site had derogative anti-national slogans till a week ago. The site cannot be accessed now as it was also taken off the servers obviously as a damage control exercise by webmasters.
