BDA demolishes huge illegal building
By Our Special Correspondent
BANGALORE, OCT. 20. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), in
a swift operation on Saturday, demolished a basement-plus-three
floor commercial complex in Koramangala suburb. The plinth area
of the building was 60X90 sq.ft., and it became the largest
unauthorised structure so far pulled down, the BDA Commissioner,
Mr. Jeyakar Jerome, who supervised the operation, said.
The owner of the complex produced documents, which turned out to
be forged. The BDA had already investigated into this, Mr. Jerome
said. The encroachers on BDA land usually fabricated documents.
In the case of a property adjacent to the complex, nobody came
forward to claim ownership.
The value of the land recovered was estimated to be Rs. 2 crores
according to conservative estimates. The demolition was carried
out with heavy equipment, including bulldozers, by a team led by
the Superintendent of Police (Special Task Force), Mr.
K.Srinivas.
