All jazz, only a few jell
THEY POURED all their energies into the symphonies but there were
hardly any takers. The soothing notes wafted across the
undulating waves of Hussainsagar but none appreciated their
performance. But that was supposed to be the happening place for
the happening people of this happening city.
The occasion - a jazz show by a city group. The place - the Great
Mall of Hyderabad at Necklace Road. The people - hundreds who
thronged to spend an evening at the happening event of the city.
Somehow, Hyderabadis don't seem to elevate themselves from the
energetic Bhangra or the racy numbers.
But the Samson group that performed at the Necklace Road the
other day were not a disheartened lot as they went on playing
compositions of popular jazz groups and creations of noted
singers. Some solace it was for the group as a group of kids who
enjoyed their music, if not understood its intricacies.
What mattered to them was the smooth notes flowing across on a
pleasant evening. At least they had the performers keep their
smile throughout the programme. Well, Hyderabadis don't seem to
appreciate jazz. So what if it is performed at the Great Mall.
