Ruling on Jogi's claim stayed
By Our Staff Correspondent
RAIPUR, OCT. 22. The Bilaspur High Court on Monday stayed the
implementation of the ruling of the National Commission for
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes dismissing the claim of the
Chattisgarh Chief Minister, Mr. Ajit Jogi, of being a tribal.
The single-judge Bench comprising Mr. Justice W.A. Shishak, sent
notices to the commission and the sender asking them to file
their replies within six weeks.
The commission had directed the State Government to initiate
urgent necessary action to cancel the Scheduled Tribe certificate
issued to Mr. Jogi, verify the genuineness of the ST certificate
and take action.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jogi described the commission's report ``as
politically motivated.'' ``I have faith in judiciary and hence
moved the High Court for obtaining a stay,'' he said.
