FBI fears another attack

Islamabad, Oct. 30 A day after the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, announced that he does not have to travel to New York to meet the Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, Islamabad maintained that it desired a dialogue with India and was prepared to continue the Agra process ``anywhere, any time and at any level''.

Pak. n-arms in safe hands, hopes Fernandes
New Delhi, Oct. 30. Speaking against the backdrop of international concern over Pakistan's nuclear weapons falling into the wrong hands, India today hoped that those in charge of the arsenal are ``responsible'' enough not to allow this to happen.

No break during Ramadan: Rumsfeld
Washington, Oct. 30. The Defence Secretary, Mr. Donald Rumsfeld, has ruled out a halt in American airstrikes on Afghanistan during the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. A report from Jabal Saraj in Afghanistan said that in continuing U.S. attacks, a huge explosion hit the Bagram front lines, about 40 Km north of Kabul, today sending up a mushroom cloud that billowed at least 1000 feet into the air.

Pak. begins talks to end blockade
Islamabad, Oct. 30. Alarmed over reports of continued blockade of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) by the pro-Taliban supporters in the North-West Frontier Province - to protest the Musharraf regime's support to the U.S. military campaign in Afghanistan - the Pakistan Government has started negotiations with leaders of the protesters.

Cong. seeks another SRC
New Delhi, Oct. 30. The Congress has urged the Centre to set up a new States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) to look into the demands for reorganisation of existing States.

Krishnaswamy, new IAF chief
New Delhi, Oct. 30. Air Marshal S. Krishnaswamy will take over as the next chief of the Indian Air Force on December 31, succeeding Air Chief Marshal A.Y. Tipnis.

Anthrax scare
New Delhi, Oct. 30. The anthrax scare today spread to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. A suspicious looking envelope was received at the office of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) around noon and it has been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) for testing.

Place of worship demolished
Nasik, Oct. 30. A place of worship was demolished, one person was killed and vehicles and kiosks were set on fire in fresh incidents since yesterday in villages near Maharashtra's Malegaon town prompting the Army to stage a flag-march and impose curfew.

BSF jawan killed
Jammu, Oct. 30. A BSF jawan was killed in unprovoked Pakistani artillery shelling in the Panjtari post of Domana sector of the Jammu region on Monday. Sources said the head constable, Gopal Ram, was patrolling the area which came under enemy fire.
