Priority for sports stadium
By Our Staff Reporter
MADURAI, OCT. 31. An acclaimed sports person, who represented the
State many-a-time at national volleyball and kabbadi
championships, the 57-year old Mr.T.Chinnasamy, the new Deputy
mayor of Madurai Corporation, is a simpleton.
A farmer, Mr.Chinnasamy has already had a four year stint as a
councillor of the Corporation and his association with the DMK is
four decade old now.
``For several years, I have been rendering my services freely as
a volleyball coach to many colleges. The Mayor Mr. C.
Ramachandran was my student in school and college,'' a jubilant
Chinnasamy told `The Hindu' adding that establishing an exclusive
sports stadium for the Corporation, would be his top most
priority.
A school finalist, the deputy mayor is also willing to contribute
50 per cent of the cost required to construct the stadium. ``I
will spend my own money to establish playgrounds for the
Corporation schools,'' he assured.
