DMK retains Cuddalore dt. panchayat council
By Our Staff Reporter
CUDDALORE, OCT. 31. Mr. V. Ganesan was re-elected for the second
term both from the Kazhudhur ward of the Cuddalore District
Panchayat Council (DPC) and to head the DPC.
He nursed well the remote part of this backward district viz
Mangalur and surrounding belts during his previous tenure and was
re-elected chairman of the DPC by a margin of ten votes. Mr. N.
Balu (PMK) was elected vice-chairman of the DPC.
The election was held in the presence of the District Collector,
Mr. S. Thangaswamy, at the District Development Council Hall.
Later talking to presspersons, Mr. Ganesan noted that he would be
able to use his ``past experience'' he had gained in the earlier
tenure for an immediate take-off of the people welfare schemes.
``I shall not lament over the usual cry - dearth of powers for
the DPC - but will rather fully use my experience''.
