Dravid is fit for rest of tour

DURBAN, OCT. 31. Rahul Dravid is fit to take part in the remaining part of the tour. The Indian team manager Dr. Mahendra Kumar Bhargava said: ``Rahul has been complaining of intermittent niggle in his right shoulder for four years. This discomfort, however, has not prevented him from participating and performing in international cricket.

``Earlier investigations have failed to reveal any pathology. Rahul had another MRI investigation on the 29th of October 2001. This revealed a lesion in the labrum (cartilage) of the glenohumeral joint. However his rotator cuff was found to be completely normal. This pathology is consistent with someone involved in throwing sports.''

Dravid has been advised specific shoulder strengthening exercises in order to manage this problem conservatively. Dr. Bhargava said that ``Rahul's condition will be closely monitored and that in the event of the pathology degenerating in the future, surgical management may become necessary.''

BCCI awaits medical report

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting the medical report on injured Indian vice-captain Rahul Dravid before taking a decision to field him in the Test series.
