Misguided youth
Sir, - I fully endorse the view expressed in your Editorial
`Majoritarian prescriptions'(Oct. 29) on the remarks of the RSS
chief, Mr. K.S. Sudarshan. It is a pity that he indulged in such
rhetoric repeatedly. This could stoke communal tension in the
country. This kind of derogatory statements did kindle communal
frenzy in the past in which innocent people lost everything.
Misguided youths are being dragged to the path of terrorism by
such leaders.
Usman Ali P.M.,
Malappuram, Kerala
Sir, - This has reference to the news report `Re-interpret your
scriptures - Sudershan tells minorities' (Oct. 27). In his
Dusshera day address at Nagpur, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh
chief, Mr. K.S. Sudershan has defended the Government's move to
saffronise education and also advised the Government to stockpile
nuclear weapons. He failed to condemn the vandalism at the Taj
Mahal and the forceful entry of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders
into the disputed land at Ayodhya against the court's rulings.
Instead of educating the VHP, Bajrang Dal, BJP etc. to behave
properly with the minorities in the interest of peace and
harmony, he asked Muslims and Christians to re-interpret their
scriptures which preach tolerance and goodwill. This only reminds
us of the saying about the devil quoting the scripture.
Dharmaraj Joseph,
Tirunelveli, TN.
