Early exit for Sai, Rushmi

NEW DELHI, NOV. 1. The 409th-ranked Sai Jayalakshmy went down 6- 1, 1- 6, 2-6 to wild card entrant Gabrielle Baker of Australia in the first round of the $25,000 Australian Unity Tour women's circuit tennis tournament in Mackay.

The 437th-ranked Rushmi Chakravarthi ran into the 179th-ranked top seed Christina Wheeler of Australia in the first round, and lost 1-6, 5-7.

Sai and Rushmi will be looking to make a positive impression in the doubles, as the fourth seeds take on Nicole Rencken of South Africa and Sarah Stone of Australia in the pre- quarterfinals.
