By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, NOV. 4. The APSRTC management has announced a scheme of cash advance to the employees reporting for duty at the nearest depot by Monday.

Considering the hardship faced by the employees and their families, the management has decided to provide recoverable advance of Rs 2,500 to class IV employees and Rs 3000 to cash III and II employees if they report for duties immediately, Mr. Ch. The strike by the RTC employees entered the 21st day and there are fears that the public may forget the public transport and choose alternative transport in future. This would result in permanent damage to the APSRTC, the regional manager said.

He requested the employees to report for duty at the nearest depot by tomorrow, which, he said, would help serve the commuters regain their confidence and also avoid losses.

Mr.Rameshwar Rao said the Government had already agreed to reduce taxes in the city by five per cent, reimburse 50 per cent of concessions during 2001-2002, appoint a committee headed by the special chief secretary to protect the RTC, double the fitment, weightage in increments, and hike in festival advance.
