Oil, LPG prices go up

NEW DELHI, NOV. 9. Even as international oil prices remain at relatively low levels, the Government has hiked the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas or cooking gas) owing to a revision in dealers' commission. Petrol and diesel prices will rise by 17 to 19 paise depending on local taxes while the domestic LPG prices will rise by Re. 1 to Rs. 1.05 a cylinder. The new prices come into effect from the midnight of November 9 - 10. Petrol in Delhi will now cost Rs. 28.94 a litre and the price in Chennai will be Rs. 30.67. The prices in Kolkata and Mumbai will be Rs. 29.21 and Rs. 31.90. Diesel prices will now be Rs. 17.18 a litre in Delhi, Rs. 18.65 in Chennai, Rs. 20.79 in Mumbai and Rs. 17.54 in Kolkata. LPG cylinder will now cost Rs. 223.30 in Delhi, Rs. 229.65 in Chennai, Rs. 226.70 in Mumbai and Rs. 246.65 in Kolkata.

The increase in dealers' commission is 13.5 paise a litre on petrol and 8.8 paise a litre on diesel. The commission on domestic LPG has been increased by Rs. 1.02 a cylinder.
