Koya's book on Anand released

CHENNAI, NOV. 9. Whenever a discussion is initiated on chess, the name that comes to mind is Viswanathan Anand. At a book release function here on Friday, the subject was the world champion, but the focus was on the administrator of the game - P.T. Ummer Koya, Secretary, All India Chess Federation (AICF). He has authored and edited the book titled `Viswanathan Anand 15th World champion.

Releasing the first copy, Dr. N. Mahalingam, former President, All India Chess Federation, said the book ``will be of good use for all the chess players. Mr. N. Srinivasan, President, AICF, echoed similar views about the book. Mr. Manuel Aaron, India's first International Master, received the first copy. Mr. D.V. Sundar, Vice-President, AICF, also spoke on the occasion.

Mr. Koya said the reason for coming out with the book was ``when Vladimir Kramnik won the Braingames championship, a book was released on him, and I thought why not about Anand who had won the world championship at Teheran.''

The book contains, among other things, analysis by Anand on all his four games in the final of the World championship against Aleiex Shirov at Teheran, an interview with Anand himself, and some articles by chess experts on Anand. The book is priced at Rs. 750.
