Osama threatens to use n-weapons
By B. Muralidhar Reddy
ISLAMABAD, NOV. 10. Osama bin Laden, the man most-wanted by the
U.S. and its allies, has threatened to use nuclear and chemical
weapons if the U.S. takes recourse to the nuclear route.
In his first interview since September 11 to Mr. Hamid Mir,
editor of the Pakistan Urdu daily, Ausaf, somewhere near Kabul,
Osama claimed have nuclear and chemical weapons. He, however,
asked the interviewer to move on to the next question when asked
from where he had acquired the weapons. Osama's claim comes at a
juncture when there is paranoia in the U.S. over the possibility
of the Al-Qaeda and Osama acquiring nuclear material and concerns
over the safety of nuclear assets in Pakistan.
While the U.S. and its allies, with their might and resources,
have not been able to establish the whereabouts of the fugitive,
an enterprising and intrepid editor from the war zone has not
only reached him but has come back with a full-fledged interview.
