CIO (India) magazine institutes awards

BANGALORE, NOV. 10. To commemorate the second anniversary of CIO
(India) magazine, its publishers, Technology Media Group (TMG),
instituted the CIO Awards, and chose chief information officers
from five companies for this year's awards.
``Recognising the champions of technology'' was the idea behind
instituting the awards, said Mr. Subhanjan Sarkar, publisher and
Editor, CIO (India), at the award presentation ceremony here on
Friday. TMG publishes CIO (India) under franchise from the U. S.
based media giant, the International Data Group (IDG)
The CIO (India) awards are given in five categories - Supply
chain management, Business process management, Human Resources
Development, Business Decision Support and Customer Management.
The theme chosen for the anniversary issue was ``give the CIOs
their due''. As to the awards, the theme was ``Innovation and
Leadership for the Future of the Enterprise''. This years winners
were selected from 32 nominations, through a three tire selection
process.
This year's awards go to Mr. Subba Rao Hegde, Gujarat,
Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Supply Chain Management),
Mr. Sharat Saxena, Konkan Railway (Business Process Development),
Mr. Adesh Goyal, Hughes Software Systems (Human Resource
Development), Mr. Sanjay Handu, Sr. Manager, Tyco Electronics
(Business Decision Support) and Mr. Ashok Sinha, BPCL and Mr.
Subba Rao again for Customer Management. The anniversary issue of
CIO (India) magazine was formally released by Mr. B.K.
Chandrashekar, Minister for IT, Karnataka, Ms. Aruna
Sundararajan, IT Secretary, Kerala, Mr. Kiran Karnik, President,
NASSCOM, Mr. Rajendra Pawar, Chairman, NIIT, Mr. Sunil Kumar
Alagh, Managing Director and CEO, Britannia Industries and Ms.
Nivedita Mukerjee, Managing Editor, CIO (India).
