Idol recovered
By Prafulla Das
BHUBANESWAR, NOV. 12. The idol of Lord Madan Mohan, which was
stolen from the 12th century Lord Jagannath temple in Puri early
on Sunday, was recovered from a well inside the Nilachal Upaban,
a garden adjacent to the main temple complex, this morning.
Police, however, have not been able to trace the other stolen
idol of Lord Amabasya Narayan.
The idol of Lord Madan Mohan was traced around 9-30 a.m. when a
fireman, Mr. Dharanidhar Baral, entered the well and searched for
it. When the water was pumped out, the police recovered the idol
and a crowbar, which was apparently used by the culprits to break
open the lock of the small temple to take away the idols.
