Denture extracted from lungs
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, NOV. 13. In a startling case, an elderly male patient
was admitted to Medwin Hospital with an inch-long denture stuck
inside the bronchial tubes of his lungs. Normally the human body
does not allow even a drop of water to enter the lungs, coughing
the offending object out.
Mr. M.D. Akbar swallowed his denture while brushing his teeth and
started coughing incessantly after that. It was only after
visiting many doctors and numerous diagnosis that the denture was
discovered in his lungs.
Dr. G.V.S. Rao, ENT surgeon, extracted the object using specially
designed `tele-video' forceps which allowed him to view the
entire process on a monitor. Speaking to the press, Dr. Rao
highlighted the ease and short duration of the entire operation
due to this equipment.
