66 NGOs blacklisted
NEW DELHI, NOV. 16. The Government has blacklisted 66 NGOs for
their unsatisfactory performance while action is awaited against
69 others pending re-inspection reports, the Minister for Social
Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Satyanarayan Jatia, said today.
Addressing a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee
of his Ministry here, Dr. Jatia said that out of the 898 NGOs
inspected, 730 were found satisfactory while adverse reports were
received against 168. Two NGOs had been blacklisted in the
current financial year and showcause notices had been issued to
14 others following the inspection of 644 NGOs. The performance
of 33 organisations was satisfactory after re-inspection or
receipts of replies.
