Rally calls for end to war
LONDON, NOV. 18. At least 10,000 demonstrators, including
politicians and leaders of Britain's Muslim community, marched
through central London today to demand an end to the war in
Afghanistan, police said. But organisers of the protest, `Stop
The War Coalition,' said 50,000 had turned out for the rally
which began in Hyde Park and carried on to Trafalgar Square.
Muslims held prayers for peace at the Park while speakers told
the rally that the apparent rout of the Taliban militia did not
justify U.S. and British military action in Afghanistan.
