6 players cautioned for breaching ICC code
Port Elizabeth, Nov. 19. The Indian cricket team was put on caution by the match referee, Mr. Mike Denness, who imposed a 75- per cent fine of their match fees on six players for breaching the International Cricket Council (ICC) code for players in the second Test against South Africa.

SC notice to Uttar Pradesh in Babri Masjid case
New Delhi, Nov. 19. The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh Government and the Central Bureau of Investigation on two petitions challenging the order of the Allahabad High Court quashing framing of charges in the ``Babri Masjid demolition case'', against the Union Ministers, Mr. L.K. Advani, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, and Ms. Uma Bharti, and other leaders of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

4 scribes feared killed, Taliban holdouts pounded

London, Nov. 19. A British tabloid claims to have discovered a Taliban-run anthrax laboratory in Kabul alleging that Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda network was ``behind'' the U.S. anthrax scare.

Islamabad, Nov. 19. Pakistan declared here today that it no longer recognised the Taliban regime in Afghanistan on the ground that its Government has collapsed.

'Taliban may be diverted to Kashmir'
Srinagar, Nov. 19. As the Taliban faces a near-complete ouster from Afghanistan, the Army apprehends the militia's diversion to Kashmir, the Commander of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps, Lt. Gen. J. R. Mukherjee, has said. He, however, denied that troop deployment had been increased in any part of the Valley.

Ariane-4 rocket to carry INSAT-3C
Chennai, Nov. 19. The Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) latest multipurpose satellite,INSAT-3C, will be launched from Kouru, the French Guyanese spaceport, on January 16.

Ambush toll 17
Jammu, Nov. 19. The death toll in Sunday's ambush of an Army convoy in Doda district has risen to 17. Official sources said a jawan succumbed to injuries last night while another civilian died today. Nine critically injured jawans were still battling for life at hospital.

Leh airfield operational
Leh, Nov. 19. The world's highest airfield here has become operational for the IAF's frontline fighters MiG-29s with the Air Officer Commanding- in-Chief, Western Air Command, Air Marshal Vinod Bhatia, declaring it would give New Delhi a ``far greater reach towards central Asia''.

BSF, BDR exchange fire
Shillong, Nov. 19. The BSF and Bangladesh Rifles exchanged fire after Indian cultivators were driven back by Bangladeshis and their guards at Ronkung village in Jaintia hills of Meghalaya, a senior BSF official said today.
