Power for all by 2012?
BANGALORE, NOV. 19. At the awareness campaign programme on power
sector development and reforms sponsored by the Union Ministry of
Power, it was highlighted that the ministry had prepared a
detailed blueprint for increasing power generation from the
State, Central, private grids by another 1,00,000 MW by the end
of the Eleventh Plan, to realise the goal of obtaining reliable,
quality and affordable power for all by 2012.
In the audio and video presentations made at the FKCCI recently,
the areas of concern involved in improving the power situation,
such as generation, reduction of sub-transmission and
distribution losses, tariff rationalisation, development of
conventional renewable energy sources, and creation of
distribution centres of excellence, the methodology for their
implementation and the measures required to be taken were well
outlined.
The awareness campaign programme was presided over by Mr.
K.N.Jayalingappa, Vice-President, FKCCI. Representatives of
trade, commerce and industry, public utilities and academic and
research institutions, were also present.
