Opposition stages walkout in Assembly
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 19. The Left Democratic Front today
staged a walkout in the Assembly in protest against the
Government's position on the issue related to the death of a
Dalit youth soon after being released from police custody.
Though the Speaker, Mr. Vakkom Purushothaman, refused to grant
leave to move a notice for an adjournment motion, he allowed the
Janata Dal MLA, Dr. Neelalohithadasan Nadar, to raise the matter
as a special case.
The Information Minister, Mr. M. M. Hassan, officiating for the
Chief Minister, Mr. A. K. Antony, said the Dalit youth had died
of cardiac arrest. Only a detailed examination of the viscera
would reveal the exact nature of death.
