Delhi to host abilympics

NEW DELHI, NOV. 20. The Sixth International Abilympics will be
hosted by India in Delhi in 2003 to highlight the vocational
skills of the persons with disabilities, said the Secretary,
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. C. Gopal Reddy,
addressing mediapersons jointly with the Secretary, Secondary and
Higher Education (HRD Ministry), Mr. M.K. Kaw, and the secretary-
general, Abilympic Association of India, Dr. Uma Tuli.
Nearly 3,000 participants from 50 countries are expected to
participate in the event. There would be vocational skill
contests for as many as 45 events. Financial and infrastructural
support would be provided by the Ministries of Social Justice and
Empowerment and Human Resource Development.
