Weaver dies of 'starvation'

ONGOLE, NOV. 20. A 35-year-old weaver, Bitra Pullaiah of
Duggirala Gopalarishnaiah Colony under Chirala municipality
limits reportedly died of starvation last night.
According to Mr. Padavala Lakshmana Swami, general secretary,
Weavers' Welfare Association (WWA), Epurupalem, Pullaiah had no
work for the past three months and neither the weavers' society
nor the government had provided any work to him.
Mr. Swami said due to financial problems and malnutrition the
victim suffered nervous breakdown and died. He has wife and two
children and they were also starving and might die if the
government did not rescue them, Mr. Swami said.
