By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, NOV. 20. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Reddy US Therapeutics Inc. (Reddy US) and Incyte Genomics Inc., a leading genome information company have announced signing of a collaborative agreement, allowing the first two companies to access Incyte's gene sequence database and animal model database.

Dr. Reddy's said that they will have non-exclusive access to Incyte's intellectual portfolio of genes and high quality sequence-verified DNA clones for further research in the laboratory.

This will help in the discovery of additional proteins to accelerate discovery of target proteins for small molecule therapeutics.

Dr. K. Anji Reddy, Chairman, said they recognised that genome- based research was essential for drug discovery.

``Based on our analysis of the current genome based products, we believe that this agreement will help to accelerate the process of identifying new therapeutic targets. This may lead to important new pharmaceutical compounds,'' he added, according to a company release.
