Rupee turns weak against dollar

MUMBAI, NOV. 20. The rupee turned weak and almost lost overnight gains against the dollar in featureless trade on the interbank foreign exchange market today on light dollar demand from state- owned banks.

Opening marginally down at Rs.47.95/96 a dollar, the Indian unit gradually moved downwards in the wake of dollar sales by exporters which was absorbed by public sector banks, and closed lower by about 2.50 paise at Rs. 47.9650/9750 a dollar as against yesterday's finish of Rs. 47.9425/9475.
