Award for director
LONDON, NOV. 23. The U.K.-born Indian director, Mr. Asif Kapadia,
has won the British Film Institute (BFI) award for his debut
feature film ``The warrior'', a timeless story of a journey from
the deserts of Rajasthan to the snow-capped peaks of Himalayas.
Mr. Kapadia was awarded the Sutherland Trophy for the most
original and imaginative first feature film screened during the
London film festival.
The jury member, Mr. Wolfgangh Tillmans, presented the trophy at
an awards ceremony before the closing of 45th Regus London Film
Festival here yesterday.
Nominations for the trophy also included another Indian, Mr.
Subrahmanian Santakumar's ``Guardian of the earth.''
