Maoists strike across Nepal
KATHMANDU, NOV. 24. Ending a four-month ceasefire, Maoist
guerrillas struck in a big way carrying out a series of attacks
across Nepal killing 37 army personnel and policemen, looting
banks and houses of ministers and blasting government buildings,
the Government said today.
The army and police were put on a nationwide alert as King
Gyanendra held an emergency meeting with the Prime Minister, Sher
Bahadur Deuba, and the security situation was reviewed at a
Cabinet meeting today, it said.
