Swamy's appeal to Opposition
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, NOV. 24 The Janata party president, Dr. Subramanian
Swamy, has urged the Opposition parties in Parliament to seize on
the suggestion of the Union Home Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani, (made
at a meeting with Dr. Swamy) that he was inclined to delete the
provision in the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO) that
requires journalists to disclose their source of information or
face imprisonment.
In a statement released today, Dr. Swamy said the POTO was
required to be adopted into law ``in India's national interest''.
