One killed, 22 injured in Srinagar blast
SRINAGAR, NOV. 24. One person was killed and 22 injured, six
seriously, when militants hurled a grenade on a security
personnel vehicle which missed its target and exploded on the
road in the Lal Chowk area in the heart of the city here today.
The injured, including three women, were admitted to the SMHS
Hospital. One seriously injured identified as Yasir Rafiq later
died of injuries, an official spokesman said.
Panic gripped the Ghantagarh area of Lal Chowk following the
blast with people running helter-skelter and shopkeepers fleeing,
abandoning their shops.
The BSF and police launched a hunt for the militants and were
seen questioning pedestrians. But no arrests have been made so
far.
Elsewhere, militants hurled a grenade inside the house of
Samander Hussain in the Manjakote area of Rajouri district.
